What We Eat

 

At Sandy Hill Child Care the food is prepared on-site using Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide and in accordance to holistic culinary practices. By using healthy food choices, advantages of whole foods, and impact that our choices make on global ecosystem, we offer nutritious and well balanced meals (2 snacks and a lunch). During meals we model good eating habits and create a positive eating environment with a quiet and family-style atmosphere.

Nutrition is a very important part of our program. We provide the children the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of food. Our program is supplied with farm fresh as long as the markets allow. A variety of choices are offered in the meal planning.  Menus are prepared in advance and posted for the parents to read. Any changes to our menu will also be posted on a daily basis. Dietary restrictions can also be accommodated into our program. Staying hydrated is also as important, which is why we have water machines located on both floors so the children can access them as needed.

ALLERGIES are taken very seriously at Sandy Hill. We are a NUT FREE centre. We have implemented an allergy policy to help avoid cross contamination. Absolutely NO outside food is allowed in the centre.
